Gamera Guardian of the Universe Issue #3
Finally! The threesome of everybody’s dreams!
The battle between Zigra and Gamera continues on board the French Navy which is at this point on flames and falling apart. Lutz still running for his life runs into Asagi…who can apparently materialize wherever she feels like. Lutz quickly goes to give her the amulet back when he realizes that he broke it. Asagi sums this idiotic situation up perfectly…

Immediately after wards the ship is vaporized by Zigra. Lutz however awakens and it was all just a horrible nightmare. A nightmare that appears to have spanned a comic book cliffhanger. That’s really confusing… But to make up for it the French Navy put Lutz into a prison to hopefully rot away until he’s just a pile of bones.
Meanwhile Greta and Gusano have been at sea in a submarine for 3 weeks while they work on the Viras. Greta has grown more and more entangled with Viras at this point, even to the point where she has her hair styled to look like a squid. Her husband expresses his concern for her well being and she just replies that she is “one with Viras”. She goes on to say that with Viras’s telekinetic ability they can detect the telepathic frequency (the amulet) that controls Gamera and have Viras use it to their advantage.

AND THEN RULE THE WORLD, MUAHAHAHA!
After a month of captivity Lutz has a visitor, Mayumi. She begins explaining the situation to Lutz about Karbone, Gusano, and Viras. Lutz then tells her about Zigra attacking the ship. He reveals that the attack did actually happen up until the previous comic’s cliffhanger, and we’re only now finding out the revelation that should’ve been placed at the start of this book.
Turns out Gamera was underwater unconscious but a sub encountered him and fired a nuke at him. The flames woke him up and recharged him. Gamera then dove back into battle with Zigra, grabbed him by the neck and dropped him into an active volcano. I’m not really sure but given the artwork in which this flashback takes place this (and most of the action scenes in this series) is just confusing as hell. Lutz offers to give Mayami the means of controlling Gamera if she can coerce his release from prison, but before he can present the amulet Gusano (disguised as the guard) takes it from him and backhands both him and Mayumi to the ground.

Now observe the Elastic Man at work as he clobbers a douchebag with his impossibly backward extended fist! Wait... this guy isn't Elastic Man, Plastic Man, Elongated Man or Reed Richards?
Then we get more of this alien bitch talking in her made up language and fiddling with a remote control and in the process transports both Lutz and Mayumi to her alien ship rescuing them from Gusano. Again I am not translating what amounts to 5 or 6 worthless panels. She reveals to Lutz and Mayumi that her name is Freena, and that she’s been hired to retrieve the biological weapon known as Zigra. However before they can say anymore Viras begins attacking Paris. SEGWAY!

Yes! Check out the gigantic squid with a bird beak.
Gamera then magically shows up but appears to be under Viras’s telepathic control. Gamera stands off against the military as a huma– turtle shield against the military’s artillery. Essentially sacrificing itself for Viras while Greta and Gusano control him from a nearby skyscraper.

To the comics credit they DID reprint the stupid alien language thing from the previous issue but the language is only used on one single page and the alien is talking English after that anyway. So who cares?
